Context

Building on the momentum and work of the UN Food Systems Summit, COP26 and COP27, COP28 UAE Presidency has identified food systems as one of the top priorities in their COP28 Presidential Action Agenda.

The COP28 UAE Presidency and UN High-Level Climate Champions are seeking to accelerate the systemic transformation of food systems through the launch and acceleration of a comprehensive package of initiatives, mobilizing public and private players.

Among these initiatives, the COP28 Presidency - in collaboration with the UN High-Level Climate Champions HE Razan Al Mubarak and Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin and the support of Gonzalo Munoz as Chair of the COP28 Presidency's Food Systems Non State Actor Pillar - is looking to mobilize key private and public non-State actors (e.g., input suppliers, farmers, producers, traders, CPG, retailers, cities, procurement agencies etc.) to scale the transition and drive implementation to regenerative agriculture.

To drive the transition, the COP28 Action Agenda on Regenerative Landscapes will be launched at COP28, with the aim to show progress in the lead up to COP30. COP28 Presidency will spearhead this initiative - chaired by the HLC, WBCSD and BCG - that will aggregate existing commitments and initiatives to transition landscapes to regenerative agriculture from leading players and will aim to drive new, ambitious commitments for accelerated global regenerative agriculture transition across value chains and industry.
